The Turtle's Clutch Cuff
“SPRING DATA”, a six piece release inspired by the many hours I spent helping document the ecology at the park this Spring. A simple ode to the reptiles and amphibians of the wetlands, whose habitat we aim to protect.
Piece 6. The Turtle's Clutch Cuff.
A slight throwback to palmetto pieces I made many years ago, as well as a turtle altar vessel I made last summer. Combining the two ideas into what might be one of my favorite cuff's to date.
The central pendant consists of a real, life cast, solid sterling silver turtle paw. It arches and rests on a piece of swampy colored Moss Agate, encircled in a triple braided wire frame, with simple stamp designs. On either side of the central pendant, are two hand fabricated palmetto leaves. Each leaf is hand drawn, sawed, filed, stamped, and textured - made on sterling silver sheet I have rolled the impression of an actual feather directly into the metal - to mimic the subtle striation within a palmetto frond. More simple stamp work throughout the band.
Truly one of a kind. ✨
