The Barbed Scorpion Hoops
A play on my staple Dueling Scorpion Hoops, but with the slow ride home touch.
These being the first play into something I would like to expand on with more time in the future, REAL barbed wire. Why barbed wire is so cool to me is all its history, it’s layers of textures as it ages, all the different styles for their different use, it’s so rich. In this collection I play with barbed wire I collected on the trip, specifically, from the Diablo Canyon. If you’re a train nerd, or know Apache history, you might know the lore or visited the area. The real, texturally rich, barbed wire hand cast in fine silver, protects beeeeutiful rust colored pieces of Wild Horse Jasper, stamped details frame the rest of the stone.
Made with a 18g sterling hook closure to fit standard ears (that are comfortable with a little weight) or worn through gauged ear tunnels.
The earrings are given a patina to give them an antiqued, high contrast look, and then brought to a nice shine. ✨
>>> Scorpions are another powerful totem. They carry many of the same strengths and messages as a snake. They are patient, intutive, fierce when threatened with danger, as well as good with boundaries and controlling the energy they expel, they also have the ability to shed their skin and emerge new after much growth. Along with these qualities, I believe carrying a scorpion talisman is a good reminder of focusing on what you carry, and making sure to release old habits and behaviors that no longer deserve to come on your journey. <<<
