The Spell of the Swamp Ring
The first ring design I made in my very first collection as a silversmith in 2014, the Southwestern Swamp Collection, and then reintroduced in my lauching of SSH in 2015. Still my favorite. It only comes out to play for special occasions as I only use alligator teeth I go and find and clean myself. I will only ever use pieces of animals that have found a natural death, and would otherwise be destroyed - instead giving them an honored resting place.
The ring band is hand sawed, formed, and stamped from sterling silver sheet. In the center of the the ring, a piece of eye catching Moss Agate is set into a fine silver bezel. Moss Agate is the perfect stone to represent the swamps of Louisiana, whose state mineral is agate. The stone has been surrounded by sterling silver roped wire, and three hand formed sterling silver balls. On either side of the center stone, I set two alligator teeth, as always I have found and cleaned the teeth myself. The ring was then given a darker patina, to give it an antiqued appearance.
It is a ring size 7.
The band is 1/4" wide at its back narrowest, and 1 1/8" wide in the front.
It weighs .4 oz.
