This listing is for a ONE OF A KIND necklace from the Magic of the Swamp - LIGHT Collection.

This necklace is my tribute to the "Bald Cypress Tree".

There is no image more haunting, and magical, than that of a bald cypress tree. Tall and ominous, with sweeping spanish moss hanging from its branches. These trees make my heart swell. Floating in a canoe beneath them is what has left me forever in the South's clutches.  

This all sterling silver necklace showcases a beautiful piece of boulder opal, that has swirls of earthy browns that seem to embody that off tree bark. I've set it in a scalloped bezel, surrounded  by a hand cut a stamped swamp scene. The bald cypress and its roots give a base to this pendant, while its leaves and drooping spanish moss covers it. On the back of the pendant I have sweat soldered on the line from the song Marie Laveau, "Down in Louisiana where the black trees grow", to hold this swamp magic close to your heart.  A layer of patina has been added to heighten the contrast of this piece, it was given a cypress oil and wax coating to help keep it in place and to satisfy the senses of smells from the swamp.
